Those are some classic photos. I'll have to take some to show everyone why South Florida isn't the mecca people think it is, either. You just wait!

Kind of looks like where I live...LOL...except that I don't HATE it as much as I think you do! :)

I think I just threw up a little.

My hopes for Mississippi have been dashed by your dose of humorous reality.
Posted by: HeatherJ | April 29, 2006 at 03:43 AM
and I thought rural Iowa looked strange!
Posted by: Meredith | April 29, 2006 at 03:34 AM
I need some bling bling with a touch of class.
More pictures, please!
Posted by: Chag | April 28, 2006 at 10:27 PM
Heh heh, Records and Pot Center. Yeah, I know, its PET Center. But Pot Center is funnier.
Shut up Beavis.

fuck me! no wonder a certain midwestern town in michigan looks rather alluring to you right now.
Posted by: joy | April 28, 2006 at 02:57 PM
Holy fucking crap on a stick. When does your husband get PCS orders?
Posted by: Julie | April 28, 2006 at 01:07 PM
What, you couldn't have given me one of those photos? I don't have one for next week yet, and for me they would have been random.
Posted by: nonlineargirl | April 28, 2006 at 12:38 PM
Who wants bling without the class? Seriously. Them gold teefs or that rhinestone encrusted watch has GOT to be class-ay!
Posted by: mrsfortune | April 28, 2006 at 11:45 AM
And to think you don't like living there.
Posted by: Mom101 | April 28, 2006 at 11:32 AM
I thought it said "Records and Pot" too. I thought that combination made quite a lot of sense, until I read your caption.
The drugs, food, and smiles one is pretty amusing too -- are you sure you're not living in some hippy enclave?
Ray Ray is cool cool.
Posted by: Nancy | April 28, 2006 at 11:21 AM
You have just made my nearest town look like a freaking metropolis with class. Thank you. But now when I shop there, I am going to be wishing we had our own Ray Ray's. Cuz that, my friend, is a gem.

So, how much longer you got in Humpback Humbpack Humback Eye, Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, Eye, Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, Eye, Pee, Pee, Eye?
Posted by: Kristi | April 28, 2006 at 10:46 AM
Ahahaha...the "pet" center looks like it says "pot" center. And by the look of things, some pot may be in order.
Enjoy your trip, if you ever get there :)
Posted by: Izzy | April 28, 2006 at 10:10 AM
First of all, the whole "bling bling" idea itself automatically undermines any possibility of class. Second of all, if you have to advertise that your store has a "touch of class", it's pretty goddamn obvious it doesn't have it. Third of all, holy fucking shit. You have got to be kidding me.
Great stuff!

ray rays. awesome.
BLING BLING!
love it. love it. love it.
krista better go notice how i pimped her out 2 blog posts ago...and it wasn't even on her blog!

your daughter by the way is a spittin image of you.
i want to see the bling bling with a touch of class!!!!
Posted by: stella | April 28, 2006 at 09:33 AM
There's no doubt about it. You have to be the coolest person to ever live in the great state of Mississippi. How do you do it, Kristen? Man, I would go nuts there! Where would I get sushi? Who would cut my hair? Where would I shop? I see why you like taking some much-needed escapes out of state!
Posted by: MetroDad | April 28, 2006 at 09:29 AM
Drugs, food and smiles. What more can you ask for?
Posted by: mama_tulip | April 28, 2006 at 09:17 AM
See? You know exacly how to cheer me up. Drugs, Food, Smiles? Yes, please. And a side order of Ray Ray's Bling Bling (with a Touch of Class).
Loooove it.
Posted by: Her Bad Mother | April 28, 2006 at 09:16 AM
well i'd sure be smiling if left alone with bottle after bottle of good drugs
Posted by: fidget | April 28, 2006 at 09:14 AM
Whoa. It's worse than I thought. Drugs. Food. Smiles. I'll have to send that picture to my musician friends, because that sounds like a future album cover.
I used to drive past a place while traveling that was Nursery Laundromat. As in, you could buy plants while you did your laundry. Kewl.
Posted by: Lucinda | April 28, 2006 at 09:08 AM
LOL! Hilarious.
And I swear I thought the second pic said Bryan's Records and POT Center! I was thinking, well, they do go together. :)
Posted by: Christina | April 28, 2006 at 09:03 AM
i love the drug store pic!
Posted by: sinsamantha | April 28, 2006 at 09:01 AM
Yep, I can see why you wish you were in London. This looks like the small Zimbabwean town I ran away from when I was 18.
Come on over.
Posted by: Lia | April 28, 2006 at 08:51 AM
Drugs in food does make us smile. Do they sell brownies?
That's some good shopping!
Posted by: something blue | April 28, 2006 at 08:33 AM
Ahhh.........the deep south!!!! I just dont know if I could handle all that in one town!
Posted by: Jaime | April 28, 2006 at 08:11 AM
Hahha, the urban jewellery picture makes me laugh because it looks highly NOT urban. Is that a dirt shoulder on the side of the road?
Oh man.
I'd like to see more pictures of Mississippi. That was amusing.
Posted by: krista | April 28, 2006 at 07:57 AM
Drugs. Food. Smiles.
It's what's for breakfast.
And oh yes, that storefront spells "bling" out loud. :-D
