Funkalicious

Before I delve into my Friday Linkalicious Love Fest, let me just say I'm sort of in a funk (hence the uninspired posting) which I've narrowed down to first-trimester meets, "wah I miss my friends," meets "why the fuck wasn't my dad as crazy about me as Poppy Bill was about his kids."

Yeah, I'm doing that whole "I'm a good person damnit, it's his loss" broken record thing.

So, I'm trying to find the funny, celebrate the subsiding of the headaches, and enjoy the company of my two children, one of whom takes great pleasure in biting my forearm and laughing.

Meanwhile, please check out these links:

Zima and Alanis are inextricably linked for me. Whenever the hell she hit her zenith I reflect upon as the halcyon days of Zima. I never put anything in them, I think I found enough ridicule just from drinking them.

Zima? That was 1994-1995, in college. And yeah, I always put a cherry or watermelon Jolly Rancher in it.

Early to Mid 90s. I always had lime in mine... nevr tried Jolly Ranchers. Maybe it would have tasted better! I am more of a vodka or Jack Daniels kinda lady!

I'm aging myself right along with Susannah, I was all about the wine coolers Bartles and Jaymes or California Coolers. And it was 1986 and I was well below drinking age.

Zima...ooh zima. around 1994-95? and always always with lemonheads. and a huge headache in the morning. but oh those lemonheads were GOOD!

Early college - 1993 - 1995. We used to put in our big plastic coffee mugs and bring it to the dorm's dining room to sip during dinner. We figured it was Sprite if anyone asked. And yes, jolly ranchers. Oh yes.

Spring break, March 1994. I'm sad to say I didn't drink it, so much as inhale it through a funnel.

Yes, I Zima bonged. There were no jolly ranchers involved.

Zima? Late 80's-early 90's. Took a swig off the top and then poured a shot of Midori into it. Not bad at all. Back then.

Zima. 1993. Once - then it was straight back to beer and White Russians.

Although I didn't know about putting other stuff in it. Maybe I would have liked it better.

We are still right - Zima = 90s

I don't care what anyone else says.

Chin up. You can drink some Zima in the third trimester.

Not to date myself or anything but I was more a Bartles & James kind of girl. Wine coolers, as sweet going down as they are coming back up.
Zima--not so much. I was a bit smarter by the time those rolled around.

Voted!

Zima, I drank occasionally in probably 1992-1996 if there was no other option. Never was a fan.

Wish I'd tried putting candy in it.

OMG! Zima! So funny.

We had a friend we would hang out with who didn't drink beer. He drank Zima. We dubbed him "The Zima Fairy."

I put lime in it on the few occasions I tried it.

I remember drinking Zima in highschool. I never put anything in it but I do remember others doing the jolly rancher thing.

I had a Zima once, in the early 90's I think. I'm certain we didn't mix it with anything. I'm more of a Mike's Hard Lemondae kind of girl, if I'm drinking anything straight out of a bottle.

Cathy Dennis?? Hubby had the hots for her. Those green eyes! That red hair! Yeah, yeah, says the blue eyed, blond-ish wife....contacts & Loreal.

I've had Zima, I can't remember how long ago. I never put anything in it. I do remember that it tasted better if it was ICE cold.

Zima, 1995, 15 yrs. old. Tastes like crap, we put jolly ranchers in it, it didn't help. I quickly moved on to good ol heinekin (sp?)

Late 90's...until I discovered Mike's Hard Lemonade. Then that became my non-beer drink of choice!

My depressed ex boyfriend used to drink Zima with grenadine. It was tastyish, but after a while with him I had to move on to the vodka.

I drank Zima in 1994 with a shot of Chambourd.

First time I tried Zima was junior year of high school, 1993.

Oh gosh...Zima. Heh. I think the first and last time I had that was right after high school in '99. Ew. LOL

Ha! Zima and Jolly Ranchers baby! Wow. That was back in the days of high school underage drinking... probably in 94 or 95.
Ah. Memory lane...

Carrie - you were 15 in 1995?

Oh you wee babe you :)

Oh, and the party took place in 1995. I remember being so excited to try it because I'd seen the oh-so-glamorous commercials. And then being horrendously disappointed because it was neither tasty nor glamorous in the least.

I didnt drink Zima but we used to buy 6 packs of it for our friend Jason in the late 90s because after 3 or 4 he'd do his George Michael and Michael Jackson impersonations on the dance floor at 80's night

Zima? Loved that. Must have been around 1986? How long did it stay around?

The first, last and only time that I drank Zima was at my 15th birthday party. My parents had thrown it as a surprise party, and a bunch of people that I didn't even know showed up and brought Zimas (because THAT's the cool liquor to sneak into a birthday party). I found it highly entertaining because it tasted like flat Sprite. But I never thought to put anything else in it. That maybe would have helped with the taste. . .
