Now, I know everyone moans and groans when it comes to the big old purple dinosaur, but other than the extreme overacting children that make my own cheeks hurt from their smiling, Barney really isn't so bad.
And he's a nice break from Noggin.
I can't believe I'm saying that since I don't currently have Noggin, but it's true. Variety is the spice of life, particularly when you've got a preschooler who'd just as soon watch the same freaking show over and over and over and over again.
So, I decided to take on Barney's 20th Birthday DVD "Celebrating Around the World" and see for myself. It helped that he's actually doing a big 20-city charity tour, which I definitely admire.
Of course, it's not your hugely indepth multicultural dvd, but it's definitely a good effort. When we often see the sea of white bread kids on television, anything I can show my daughter is great. We have a few friends from Japan and I'm Chinese, so it was nice to be able to show her celebrations and traditional dress from those cultures.
I'll be honest and say I rarely ever buy dvds that are also shows, but if you've got a Barney fan, then this is worth checking out.
