Having moved waaaaaaay too many times over the last couple of years, I've learned a few lessons. Well, two big ones:
1) Never ever ever live with your in-laws.
2) Invest in Moving Announcements.
Now, I know you say "Why do moving announcements when you can just email people and save yourself time and money?"
And I have generally said the same thing. Really, I have. But unfortunately, that only works for people who check email, which really isn't anyone over 40 in my family. And, worse, is that what I've found is that when I do get new addresses via email, I never do anything with them.
They sit in my inbox until I delete them, thus defeating the whole entire purpose of the convenient email.
So, when Tiny Prints came to me via Parent Bloggers, I was more than happy to get some moving announcements. Not only because I had just moved back home, but because their stuff is amazing.
I had only seen it through other people's cards -- Liz's baby announcements and Julie's Christmas cards (that they had purchased on their own -- no freebies or reviews or anything like that). And they were super duper nice.
So when I finally perused their site, I wasn't disappointed. They truly have something for every single taste. And the prices are reasonable. Of course, I liked the most expensive announcements, but that's just how it goes I guess.
You can customize the font, the text, and whatever else you want, other than the artwork which sort of defeats the purpose anyway. I also made sure to include our email addresses so people who might not give two craps about our address might be able to reach us that way.
And when I got them, I loved them. So much so that I didn't want to send them out.
It's great being able to send actual announcements, particularly nice ones, because I believe (I really do) that it lessens the chance of your friends and family tossing them in the trash.
Even if you're not looking moving announcements, they have everything else. EVERYTHING. And from what I can tell, it's definitely worth it.
