Meet the Sight Words - Learn & Watch

I'm so far out of what kids need to learn these days. In fact, it's amazing that I got my daughter fully dressed and out the door for her first day of pre-K today.

Truth be told, my daughter enjoys watching television and I do indulge her. It's going to be less thanks to her new school schedule, but I'm sure she'll still watch a show or two here and there during the week and I'd much prefer them to be educational.

So when I was asked to review "Meet the Sight Words," I heartily agreed.

Granted, the show looked a bit like PBS's "Word World," which my daughter enjoys, so when she saw the DVD cover she was very motivated to give it a try.

Basically, the 40-minute video goes through various Kindergarten sight words in a creative way -- using repetition, animation, and actual items that are created out of words.

I admit that after listening to it and watching snippets of it, I was afraid she'd get pretty bored. There's really no story line at all -- just words and scenarios -- and quite frankly, the words don't even exactly relate to the scenarios.

However, when I asked my daughter how she liked it, she couldn't say enough about it. In a few words, she LOVED it.

I was shocked -- but I figure, I'm not the one watching it. If she likes it and will learn from it, then I'm happy to put it on for her.
