So, apparently YouTube didn't like our breastfeeding montage. My only guess is that it did not have enough ass in it.
Boobs are very 2003. That means Breastfeeding Boobs have got to be circa 1922.
But asses? C'mon. Everyone loves an ass!
Love some ass crack!
The truth is, I'm not a prude. I'm not going to flag any of these as inappropriate. That's not the intention of the League of Maternal Justice Boob Rally. And I personally don't mind a bit of ass shaking.
But can we say hypocritical? (Can the folks at YouTube even spell that word?).
We, like many of you (we hope), are sick and tired of these companies ignoring the law, ignoring health officials, and ignoring us. If you've got Terms of Use that say no sexually explicit images, then police your own damn site. And write a caveat that says "images with breastfeeding babies when deemed appropriate are allowable."
How hard is that?
So, enough already, YouTube. Why not step out of the sexist, discriminatory box that Facebook and MySpace are co-habitating and say "breastfeeding is not obscene?"
And next time, we'll be sure to put more ass in the video for you.

**And just in case they are trying to catch us on a technicality (song copyright), we'll be resubmitting the video in the next few days with new music even though "inappropriate content and nature" doesn't sound like "copyright violation" to me. Sounds more like "we see boobies" to quote a smart man. I'll keep you posted.

I just found out about this a couple days ago and can't believe it. If you search for breastfeeding videos on YouTube, you get everything from instructional videos to something about women breastfeeding men! Your video is clearly not lewd!

I watched the breastfeeding montage again, and maybe I am PMSing, but it makes me cry. Nursing my kids was one of the most peaceful, loving things I have ever done. There is nothing like it. The world is fucked up when feeding a baby is deemed obscene.

I thought that as a mother of a daughter, you would be interested (horrified) to know that while you are not allowed to show pictures of yourself FEEDING your child, there are tons of videos of girls starving themselves on YouTube. They are called "thinspiration" and are supposed to make anorexic girls resist eating by looking at pics of super-skinny girls. It's sick.

Well, that sucks. For me, I didn't really realize how beautiful breastfeeding was UNTIL I saw the video montage. It educated me and touched me. I really can't belive this decision.

I just wrote a comment to Youtube in their "contact us" section. I asked to know why they banned it when I have seen a video where a college-aged kid lit a firework-thingy that was stuck in his asshole. It showed it too. The guy lighting it said, "Hey dude, lift your sack." When the guy didn't want to put it in his butt, they said, "It's just an asshole."
*That's* not indecent?
I worded my comment much better though. Compared them to Facebook and Myspace. I have a feeling some person complained about the video and just didn't know about the other nursing videos. I swear, I'm so fed up with all of this crap about people complaining about breastfeeding that I'd like to stick a dry fist in the ass of the next person who gives a nursing mother a hard time. Either that or my size 12 foot.

What I dont understand is this: I just went to YouTube and searched for "breastfeed" and got a TON of videos showing mother's breastfeeding!!! Some of the comments were of the dirty ol' man variety but regardless....there are videos on YouTube depicting breastfeeding. So why was the montage banned?

I feel so lucky to have had such a positive experience nursing, I had old women regularly approaching me and saying things like "I nursed all seven of my babies, good for you!" I was fully prepared for negative comments and was delighted with the support my community showed me. I even had one mother tell me while I was still pregnant "Don't let anyone tell you that you can't nurse your twins, I did it and so can you!" Best advice anyone had ever offered. (And I did nurse them, for 18 months!) Something in the world has to give. The montage was beautiful, made me want another babe to nurse.

and I just searched YouTube for videos showing childbirth- there are plenty! Please tell me what is so obscene about a boob? Pictures of babies being born are beautiful to me also but I'm surprised a boob is more troublesome than a crotch shot.
